K-9 Unit Report
The Plymouth Township Police Dept. K-9 unit was started in Aug. of 1999. Ofc. Steve Cheston and his K-9 partner "Hogan" served the Plymouth community for 9 years, before Hogan’s retirement in January of 2008.
Officer Steve Albrecht was selected as Plymouth
Townships second K-9 handler and began his training with new K-9
partner “Radar”. Officer Albrecht and Radar will undergo several
months of training, and once this training is completed they
will be patrolling the streets of Plymouth. They will be tasked
with narcotic detection, suspect apprehension, searching for
lost or missing individuals, building searches, and available
for public demonstrations.
Officer Albrecht came up with an idea to allow community involvement and asked the residents to submit a hand drawn picture along with a name for the new K-9. Once all the entries were submitted, they were reviewed and the winner was selected, and a pizza party was awarded.
