I am grateful to the Board of Trustees and to our citizens for their confidence in me.

Employment
I could not decide what I wanted to be when I grew up.  Still kicking around options, but professional baseball player and firefighter are clearly out, as the Detroit Tigers won't return my calls.  Chief Conely won't let me drive the fire truck either.

Attorney

IT and Telecom executive for decades, at big companies and small. This is where I learned most of the skills needed to be successful as Treasurer. I  worked for EDS/GM, Y&R, Siemens, Beaumont and a few smaller organizations, as an engineer, project manager, sales engineering manager, director, VP.

Personal Background
Married to Tammy Apple Doroshewitz since 1998.  Definitely married up.

Daughter, Allison, born 2004, a freshman student at U-Mich.  Really smart and kind.  Tammy and I have a total of 18 Spartan alumni in our family and no Wolverines. Nothing more to be said, except that we still love Allie despite her choices.

Son, RJ, born 2005, a senior at the PCCEP, Salem High.  A passion for politics. Some kids know who every player in the NFL is, RJ knows every member of Congress.  A really good kid, smart, focused and ambitious.  Still holding out hope he'll be a Spartan, but his ambition is to attend one of the fine Universities in Washington, DC.

What my wife and kids have in common is that they are all smarter than me.

Why I like being Treasurer
In all seriousness, the work is intellectually challenging and interesting - especially if you like numbers.

But mostly, I like to help people solve their problems.  I can't solve the world's problems and yours might be small in comparison - but it's big to you, it matters and it makes me feel good to help you fix it.

Call anytime, if I don't pick up the phone I will return your call as soon as I can - usually within a few hours.

Things I came to understand late in life
January - Being happy takes hard work, but first you have to decide that's what you really want.
