Officer Joe Smitherman has been selected to be the Plymouth Township Police Department’s School Resource Officer (SRO). Ofc. Smitherman is a nine-year veteran Plymouth Township police officer with additional experience in Alaska, serving as the SRO in the Ketchikan, Alaska Gateway Borough School District.

Plymouth-Canton School District Security Director Josh Meier was on the interview panel that assisted with selecting Ofc. Smitherman for this important position. Joe is one of our top community police officers and is really great with kids and young adults. The Township is proud of Joe and we’re confident he will excel in this SRO position which was created by the Township Board in this year’s budget.
